How to Make Quick and Healthy 15 Minute Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Next time you're craving Asian cuisine and want it fast, make these healthy and light Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps. They are easy to customize to whatever you're in the mood for but I like to keep them simple with minimal ingredients. When it comes to meals like this it's all about the flavorful sauce and this one comes together in a flash with a combination of tarmari, toasted sesame oil, mirin, and scallions. Also, I like to use ground chicken for dishes like this. It cooks fast, it's high in protein, and the flavor of the meat makes for a nice complement to the flavor of the sauce. For the wrap, I love some texture and cold crispy iceberg lettuce does the trick perfectly. Of course to top it off, you have to have a little drizzle of spicy sriracha mayo. Viola! In minutes you have something delicious and satisfying.

The Ingredients:

1 lb Ground Chicken Breast

1 tsp un-salted butter

Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

1/2 tsp Onion Powder

1 Tbsp Mirin

1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil

2 Tbsp Tamari or Low Sodium Soy Sauce

3 Scallions, thinly sliced

Nori Flakes and Sesame Seeds to Garnish, optional

8 to 10 Large Lettuce Leaves, washed and dried. I love iceberg for this. Think Crunch!

The Spicy Sriracha Mayo:

In a Small bowl, whisk the following:

2 Tbsp Mayo

1 Tbsp Sriracha (Add 2 Tbsp if you like it hot)

Squeeze of Lime, Optional

The Method:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the butter. Once it is melted, add in the ground chicken breaking it up as it cooks and gets slightly brown. As it's cooking, season the meat with in the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  2. While the meat is cooking make the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the mirin, toasted sesame oil, tamari, and 2 of the scallions.

  3. When the chicken is cooked through, turn off the heat and stir in the sauce to coat.

  4. On a plate, lay the lettuce leaves flat. Spoon in the chicken mixture evenly on to the leaves. Finish with a drizzle of the spicy mayo and garnish with the nori flakes, sesame seeds, and scallions.
